Since the arrival of the Baath Party to power, the arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance have been one of the main pillars of the Syrian regime’s rule to impose its uniqueness in power and the oppression and terror of the people, and this detention machine is still operating until today.
Although what is intended from detention is to isolate survivors from working in public affairs, we have noticed a counter result since the beginning of 2011, and in an attempt to understand the impact of the detention experience on the interest and involvement of the survivors in the Syrian public affairs in general and its political dimension in a more focused degree, Ta’afi initiative, and Kesh Male organization, in cooperation with the Orient Policy Center OPC, prepared a report that surveyed and analyzed the experiences of a sample of 200 survivors of detention.

ورغم أن المتوقع من تجربة الاعتقال هو إبعاد الناجين/ات منها عن العمل بالشأن العام، إلا أننا لاحظنا منذ بداية 2011 عكس تلك النتيجة، وفي محاولة لفهم تأثير تجربة الاعتقال على اهتمام وانخراط الناجين/الناجيات في الشأن العام السوري عموماً وببعده السياسي بدرجة أكثر تركيزاً، قامت مبادرة تعافي في منظمة كش ملك وبالتعاون مع مركز الشرق للسياسات OPC، بإجراء دراسة استقصائية عبر مسح وتحليل تجارب عينة من 200 ناجي/ة من الاعتقال.
